None of that makes much difference but what densustoto is encouraging is that the majority of the third party ports so far have been very high quality, and surprisingly close to the PlayStation 5 versions. It’s been over two weeks since the Nintendo Switch 2 came out and it’s only now that we can bring our coverage of the launch to a conclusion. For no adequately explored reason, Nintendo didn’t send out review units until the day before launch, so no outlet was able to prepare reviews beforehand and even now it’s only the high-profile ones that have been covered in any detail.

Game Reviews

Take-Two didn’t send out review copies for this game and given there’s only two reviews on Metacritic we’re guessing that was the same for everyone. It’s a shame, because the PC-orientated design is perfect for showing off the Switch 2’s mouse controls, but we’ve no idea how well it does or doesn’t work. The Metacritic scores are 60 and 70 though, so that doesn’t sound too promising. Mind you, the original PC version wasn’t great either and while that will likely change over time here’s our launch review. There are lots of other modes beyond just that, including one that adds minor role-playing elements, so it’s perhaps no surprise that the only other thing they could think of for the Switch 2 version is a new 2v2 option. Apart from that, a resolution bump, and mouse controls (which don’t work at all well) this is the exact same game that’s already available on the Switch and, like Sonic X Shadow Generations, there’s no upgrade option, if you already own the previous version.

It’s common to turn a corner, or mount a crest, and bear witness to a perfectly framed vista that would have looked like overly ambitious concept art 10 years ago. Me, myself and I Fraught and flexible, The Alters expertly blends storytelling with survival. Here’s the Monster Hunter Wilds Roadmap, detailing the planned post-launch DLC announced so far. Hate ‘fake frames’ – and games that may enable them without your knowledge? Valve has the answer to the hidden use of frame generation, and more besides.

Kay has her own special set of skills when it comes to sneaking her way into each high-security facility. However, I never grew tired of the rhythm-based lockpicking, a surprisingly simple yet effective game of Simon Says that has to be one of the snappiest and most satisfying ways to open locked doors and crates that I’ve enjoyed in a while. For all you Sonic fans out there, the new updated Sonic x Shadow Generations re-release brings back one of the best modern Sonic games, but adds a healthy heaping of everyone’s favorite-but-evil hedgehog, Shadow. If that’s not enough, you can catch him in theaters this holiday when he’s set to appear in the newest Sonic movie. However, the breakout hit in the indie scene is undoubtedly Balatro, the roguelike poker game many players could not put down.

Our dedicated team of gaming experts will provide you with well-rounded, balanced reviews that dive into every aspect of a game, giving you the insights you need to make informed decisions on what to play next. The Switch 2 is the console that we’ll keep with us often, perhaps even closer than our Steam Decks because we may bring it out for a single session on the go or share it with friends in various ways that you can’t with a PS5, Xbox, or PC. There were few wholly new, must-have games on launch day, but they’re coming. Nintendo knows a steady release of games featuring its most beloved characters will keep the Switch 2 momentum going. Third-party developers have been dying for more power to port their typically more graphics-intensive games to Nintendo’s consoles—and now they’re getting just that.

If you’re a fan of Vampire Survivors and its ilk, you’re going to want to play Soulstone Survivors, out now on PC and consoles. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a solid fighting game compilation but an even better example of game preservation done right. Futuristic Switch 2 exclusive racing game Fast Fusion is plenty of fun, but a couple of missteps keep it from reaching its full potential. Nintendo Switch 2 launch exclusive co-op game Survival Kids is one of the most tedious and repetitive games on the market today.

Played entirely online, with each player controlling an individual avatar, Rematch is available in 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 modes. While the middle option is presented as the default, I’ve found 3v3s to be the most engaging, as you always feel a part of the action, and can make game-defining moments regularly. But in 3v3s, you really can’t carry anybody, so you need a good team. As good as the Switch 2 is for local co-op in regular sessions of Split Fiction or Mario Kart World, Nintendo still hasn’t figured out what players want from online multiplayer. Playing games with online video and voice chat is hampered by subpar camera and mic capabilities. The Switch 2’s minuscule built-in microphone is supposed to pick up your voice even when you’re a good six to eight feet from the TV.

It’s a fun feeling to tell the players you’ve spent a few points on something wicked, then watch them sweat for a few moments before you reveal what it is. The skill ceiling in Rematch seems almost limitless, and I just know that pro-level players are going to put together some incredible Messi-like passages of play, making the rest of us look like Ali Dia (kudos to you, if you got that reference). But rather than this high level of mechanical complexity being off-putting, it’s a huge part of the reason I desperately want to play more.

Emerging into the open sand, your workload is split between maintaining your hydration and shelter while branching out into the surrounding areas of the map in search of story missions. Much of my first hour was spent cowering in the shade, fearing for my life as I followed my objectives to earn some scrappy sun protection and a ranged weapon. Suddenly, I wasn’t so afraid, and I began assaulting enemy camps with my newfound confidence. Why you can trust TechRadar

The frame rate is uneven and while this isn’t a straight action game there’s a constant sense that it’s only barely managing to work on the Switch 2. The occasionally blurry visuals are also less impressive than other launch ports and while some of that may be fixed with a patch, it’s clear this is a fairly compromised port. Switch 2 still seems the least appropriate console for a fighting game, given the Joy-Cons have no D-pad and we don’t think there’s a fighting stick for it yet, but beyond that this really has no drawbacks. There’s the question of whether Capcom will give it exactly the same support as the other version but it’s already got the current DLC available for it, so hopefully that means they’re not just going to abandon it after launch. Their reviews help gamers understand a game’s good and bad points.

Or, as a certain kind of simplified blockbuster RPG that is fast receding in the medium’s rearview mirror. Speeder bike combat is even more restrictive, although it does serve as the best source of unintentional comedy that you can find in Outlaws. By that same token, I got plenty of laughs from speeding headlong towards cliff faces, pumping the brakes at the last second, and watching my pursuers blaze right by me and smear themselves against the escarpment. So at least speeder combat seemed as perilous for them as it did for me.
