It annoys me with modern gaming, money, graphics, basic mechanics and bare minimum ideas. Astro bot Rescue Mission (VR ONE) is still the MOST transformative game I’ve played in my adult life. If you’ve become jaded or gaming bores you, it’ll legit make you feel like a kid playing games for the first time again. That feeling that desentized adults have to take drugs to feel, I kid you not. People can want presentation, charm, graphics, whatever level design/easy mechanics, no puzzles (unless platforming related I assume), etc.

The secret exit in Hieroglitch Pyramid is at the very end of the level, after you’ve slid down the spikey path and made it to the normal exit. Lure it to the pillar to your right or left, which you’ll notice is an unelectrified platform. If done correctly, the lightning will strike the pillar, activating it. Do this until both pillars are lit up and then kill the alien. Collect the sponge power up and proceed until you find the area with the large pool (filled with rubber ducks) near a building with a burning chimney. You’ll know you’re in the right spot because there will be a large bamboo chute on your left and a dirty mural on your right.
For $40, and w/ 3 of us each playing it separately for 12 hours, it’s just about worth it. If that was how live service games worked, Astro Bot would’ve been IT for me and my family. I wasn’t really a big fan of Astro Bot compared to everyone else(I had a much better time with Playroom)but this level nailed it. It honestly was a bit disappointing to me its a really high quality game but it didn’t capture the magic of Playroom for me outside of a few levels.
(You’ll need to use the ladybug to reach the upper two.) This will open a hidden door. Open it to leave the level early and unlock the Fan Club level in the Lost Galaxy. Preorders also let you immediately unlock the Lovestruck Lyricist in-game outfit for Astro, which is based on Parappa The Rapper, immediately at launch. You’ll receive two PSN avatars–one of Astro in his normal outfit and another of him wearing the Parappa getup–and the Glorious Graffiti skin for Astro’s Dual Speeder vehicle. These items can be unlocked in the game without preordering, but buying one of the physical or digital editions early lets you access the outfits and avatars from the jump. Five challenge levels presumably means at least five new VIP bots, potentially even more as the last set of DLC levels includes two new Bots per level.

The sheer number of boss fights throughout Astro Bot is exciting, but each boss battle’s energetic song is what really brings their encounters to life. The music for the boss fights raises the thrill levels to the max, with guitar and violin strings joining together in beautiful chaos. Adrenaline pumps through the veins as players dodge attacks and find these bosses’ weak points, all to the tune of some of the best video game music heard in a long time.

@Quintumply Are the secret stages/hidden levels required to get the platinum? I am just curious if there’s a steep difficulty barrier to get the platinum. I consider myself a decent platforming player, but I know my limits on having perfect reaction timing. Astro Bot is a stunning 3D platformer, and easily among the best games in PS5’s library. It fully delivers on the promise of Astro’s Playroom, building on the rock solid core of tight controls and inventive gameplay and turning everything up to 11. With tons to see and do, almost endless fresh ideas, innovative use of the DualSense’s features, and truly charming presentation, it’s a confident and cohesive experience that players of all ages will love.
